03.06.2014 — “Telltale” by Blush Response

The Telltale ep by Blush Response

If you only listen to one song tonight, make it “Telltale” by Blush Response (2014, from the EP Telltale).

Blush Response is a shoegaze recording project for Alister Douglas, who calls Adelaide, Australia his home. This is not to be confused with an EDM recording project of the same name from New York.

I know absolutely nothing about Blush Response. Only who it is and that Telltale is the debut EP, which was released last month. The EP is getting a bit of exposure around the shoegaze blogosphere, but nobody knows anything about this project.

Here’s the title track from the EP:

I really enjoy the fact that it has bits of heavily affected/delayed guitar bits juxtaposed against some clean, crisp (but slightly delay-laden) vocals. It’s all a perfect sendup to the glory days of shoegaze: 1992-1996.

The EP is available for download at the cost of “name your price” from bandcamp here.
