Silver Sand by Curelight Wounds

If you only listen to one song today, make it “Silver Sand” by Curelight Wounds (2014, from the Silver Sand EP).

Curelight Wounds is a punk/new wave/shoegaze recording project from Brooklyn who got started sometime in 2013. They’ve released three EPs including Silver Sand, which was self-released yesterday.

I don’t know anything about this band. I don’t even know if it’s a “band” or one dude with a bunch of gear. I suspect the latter. I got something in the mailbag about this, and everything that I know about Curelight Wounds came from that email.

So without further ado, here’s the title track from the Silver Sand EP:

“Silver Sand” by Curelight Wounds

Shoegaze-y psychedelica. Lots of reverb on the vocals. Curelight Wounds admits to being influenced by “whammy bars, new wave, the 90s”, and this is certainly a good example of that. I liken this to something between two icons from the 1990s — Swervedriver and The Boo Radleys.

You can grab the full EP from bandcamp by naming your own price.
