If you only listen to one song tonight, make it “Twisted and Clover” by The Sunshine Factory (2011, from the album Sugar)
The Sunshine Factory is a shoegaze trio from Mobile, Alabama. To date, they’ve released two albums and have another on the way. They’re one of the many, many outstanding bands on the Texas-based shoegaze/dream-pop centric label Saint Marie Records. If you’ve stopped by this blog even one time in the past, you know that I’m a big fan of that label. I’ve highlighted at least a half dozen bands from the label, and I’ll have more to come as they keep cranking out the jams.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a lot of time on my hands tonight, so I won’t be able to provide any stories based on research that I’ve done. My excuse is that I’m going to see Swirlies tonight as the opening act for Kurt Vile. As luck has it, the members of The Sunshine Factory wouldn’t have it any other way. Just the other day on their facebook page, they wrote
Do yourself a favor and drive to the nearest Swirlies show this month
Done.
So, without any commentary, I’ll just offer you the brilliant song of the day:
“Twisted and Clover” by The Sunshine Factory
You can buy a physical copy of Sugar from the Saint Marie Records web store here, or a digital copy from the label’s bandcamp page.
